The University Interscholastic League recently named Pine Tree UIL student Rebecca Teixeira a state semi-finalist for the Barbara Jordan Essay contest. Unlike other UIL events, the essay contest requires students to complete research throughout the school year and submit an original essay in February. Twelve essays are selected as semi-finalists from all public and charter schools in Texas.
